Many beverage packaging projects stall at the same point: the brand knows its product and the factory has capacity, but nobody has agreed on a bottle size, a resin and a closure that work together. This guide covers those three decisions in order, and points to bottles we already mould in each combination.
1. Fix the bottle size first
Size constrains everything else, because it determines which mould already exists and which filling line the bottle will run on. Our standard beverage moulds cover:
| Volume | Typical use | Resin |
|---|---|---|
| 100 ml | Shots, samples, juice concentrate | PET, PP |
| 200 ml | Drinking water, small juice | PET, PP |
| 250–300 ml | Single-serve juice, soft drinks, water | PET, PP |
| 330 ml | Carbonated soft drinks, sparkling water | PET |
| 350 ml | Fresh juice | PET |
| 400 ml | Milk and yogurt drinks, soft drinks | PP |
| 500 ml | Water, juice, ready-to-drink tea | PET |
| 1.5 L | Family-size juice and water | PET |
| 2 L | Large-format water and soda | PET |
Where a standard size is close enough, using an existing mould removes both the tooling cost and the lead time a new mould would add.
2. Match the resin to the fill process
PET is the default for still water, juice, ready-to-drink tea and carbonated soft drinks. It is crystal clear, lightweight, and gives the strongest oxygen and CO₂ barrier of the common bottle resins. It suits ambient and cold fill, with hot-fill grades available up to about 85°C. See the PET bottle range.
PP handles higher temperatures and is the better choice for milk, yogurt drinks and any product filled hot. It is translucent rather than clear. PP is also the resin behind most bottle caps, because of its living-hinge performance. See the PP bottle range.
3. Choose the closure before the mould is cut
The neck finish is moulded into the bottle, so the cap has to be decided first — changing a neck finish later means cutting a new mould. Our beverage bottles take screw caps, flip-top caps, sports caps and corks, with the neck finish matched to a standard (GCMI, SPI or PCO) so the closure can be sourced independently of the bottle.
