Why use a PET jar
- Product visibility – a clear jar lets the customer judge colour, texture and fill level directly, which is a strong shelf advantage for creams, gels and scrubs.
- Wide mouth – easier to fill, easier to scoop from, and easier to clean out. This suits thick products and powder or granular contents.
- Airtight lid options – an airtight seal protects moisture-sensitive and oxidation-sensitive contents, and reduces leakage risk in distribution.
- Space efficiency – square jars use shelf and carton volume more efficiently than round ones, which lowers shipping cost for the same nominal capacity.

How to specify a PET jar
- Capacity and fill level – for thick creams, allow headspace for filling equipment; for powders, decide whether the jar is filled by weight or by volume.
- Jar diameter and mouth width – wide mouth suits scooping and thick product; narrow mouth suits controlled dispensing and lower lid cost.
- Shape – round for appearance, square for space efficiency. This choice affects carton design and pallet efficiency.
- Lid type – airtight screw lid, bamboo lid, or a lid with an inner seal or induction liner where barrier is critical.
- Colour – clear, amber or opaque. Consider whether the product benefits from being seen or from being shielded.
- Decoration – screen print, hot stamp or label; confirm the surface finish before tooling.

Frequently asked questions
Should I choose a PET jar or a PP jar for cosmetic cream?
Choose PET if visibility and gloss matter and the formula is not aggressive. Choose PP if the formula contains solvents or if the jar will be exposed to heat, since PP tolerates more chemical and thermal stress and can be clarified for good clarity.
What is an airtight lid and do I need one?
An airtight lid seals against the rim so air exchange is minimal. It matters for products that oxidise, dry out or lose volatile components. For short-shelf-life or non-sensitive contents a standard screw lid may be sufficient and costs less.
Can PET jars be used for food?
Yes, with a food-contact grade resin and appropriate documentation. PET is widely used for food storage. Confirm the resin and colourant declarations for your specific market before committing.
What is the difference between square and round jars?
A square jar holds more product in the same footprint and packs more efficiently into cartons, which reduces shipping cost. A round jar usually looks and handles better and is cheaper to mould. The trade-off is shelf efficiency versus appearance.
Can you supply bamboo-lid jars?
Yes. Bamboo-lid options are in the range for brands positioning on natural or eco-friendly packaging. Note that the lid and the jar are separate components, so their fit and any inner seal need to be agreed together.
